This time around, I will be reviewing BOUNCY BABY DIAPERS. I’m so excited! Why? Because it is a Malaysian made diaper, that’s why! Thank you to Tiny Tapir for allowing me to test out this product.

I have received for reviewing:

1. 1 Bouncy Baby Microfiber diaper in Purple.
2. 1 Bouncy Baby Hemp Combo diaper in Blue.

ABOUT BOUNCY BABY DIAPERS (Info taken from Tiny Tapir):

• One-Sized pocket diaper with snap closure which are available in 2 options (Microfiber set & Hemp combo set).
• Proudly Malaysian (Made in Penang with imported materials)
• Microfiber Set has 2 microfiber inserts (1 large & 1 small); Hemp Combo Set has 2 inserts (1 tri-fold Hemp-cotton insert/prefold & 1 small microfiber insert).

I’m using the new rating system for product reviews for Bouncy Baby diapers. Each category/factor below have a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst, and 5 being the best). Comments follow each category.

Design & Appearance – My Score: 3.5 out of 5

• These one-sized diapers looked pretty basic with its solid colours of blue and purple.
  
• The pocket opening to stuff inserts is located at the top, and it is just an opening and it tends to gape. The insert might pop out and touch baby’s skin.
• What I love is that they come with 2 inserts each for both sets. Also, the inserts can be adjusted to suit your baby (for boy/girl/night time use) with the snaps on both inserts (microfiber inserts), or by tri-folding the hemp insert. Unique!

Ease of Use – My Score: 3.5 out of 5

• They only come in Snap closure, which can be difficult for beginners or caregivers to use. However, there are only 2 snaps to put on, so it’s not really that complex.
  
• The Alova Suedecloth inner is VERY easy to clean (if your baby poops on it), and solid matter and stains go off easily after a rinse, and of course after drying under the sun.
• Hemp material absorbs a lot of liquid, so it tends to have longer drying times. However, the HEMP inserts are smartly designed to allow quick drying - and it really does!
• Adjusting and customizing the inserts with the snaps can be quite a challenge without any instructions. Luckily Li of Tiny Tapir provided me with this very helpful diagram of how to utilize the inserts (for the Microfiber set). Functionality & Performance - My Score: 4 out of 5

• As mentioned before, the unique inserts (microfiber & trifold hemp) can be used on its own, together, unsnapped, snapped down or snapped one on top of the other to be used for baby boy/girl/night time. That is what I call customizable!
• Also, the curved way that the snap button closures are positioned works very well to get a good fitting for the waist and legs, and also helps to prevent wing droop (if used on smaller babies).
  
• It can also be used on newborns because it has a snap on the legs to create a small leg opening for tiny legs
• The best option is if you can buy 1 of each set (microfiber and hemp sets) so you can interchange the variety of inserts according to your baby’s need. Hemp fabric is well-know for its great absorption & water retaining properties, so it is EXCELLENT (combined with a microfiber insert) for leak-free and long hour naps or night time use.
  
• Again, the Alova Suedecloth is a sure winner for having stay-dry qualities and will keep your baby’s bottom dry and comfy

Quality - My Score: 4 out of 5

• First and foremost, hooray to a Made in Malaysia cloth diaper! Bouncy Baby diapers has definitely surpassed my expectations as a good quality diaper in comparison with other overseas brands.
• One thing I can mention is that they’re durable. I have been using these diapers for many months now and I have had no issues with the snaps, PUL layer, fabric, elastic or inserts! Also, I loved that the Alova Suedecloth inner is durable and still looking great after so many uses!

Value for Money - My Score: 4.5 out of 5

• I am giving this product a very good score because I really feel it is worth your money spent. Not only you are buying a Malaysian product, it is a quality one too!

OVERALL RATING - My Score: 4 out of 5!

• PROS: Functional and customizable inserts with snaps, Durable! Stay dry & stain-prood Alova Suedecloth inner lining.
• CONS: Wide crotch might be bulky for small babies, Only available in a few colours & no print choice, Might be difficult to use inserts without proper instructions, Only available in snap closures.

Jika hanya guna Cloth Diaper sahaja, kurang lah seronok nya… Sebenarnya ada bermacam-macam lagi aksesori atau produk berkaitan Cloth Diaper yang boleh membuatkan penggunaan Cloth Diapers serta penjagaan bayi lebih menyeronokkan Aksesori-aksesori ini bukan semuanya perlu kita ada, tetapi jika ada bajet yang lebih, apa salahnya ada beberapa tambahan untuk menyenangkan keadaan… Dan juga puas hati dan sedap mata ibu memandang (yang ni memang alasan yang mengada-ngada, hehe)

1) Snappis

• Sebelum adanya Snappis, kita perlu menggunakan pin untuk menyematkan kain lampin
• Penggunaan Snappi amat memudahkan keadaan –tidak perlu lagi terkial-kial untuk pin-kan pada bayi dan takut tercucuk.
• Snappi senang didapati di mana-mana, di Jaya Jusco pun ada dijual (tak perlu pun beli jenama “Snappi” yang lebih mahal)
• Cara menggunakan adalah:

2) Diaper Covers

• Ini telah diterangkan secara terperinci di dalam post “Let’s Talk About Cloth Diapers”

3) Nappy Liners

• Liners digunakan bersama Cloth Diapers sebagai alas di antara lampin dan bayi. Jika bayi membuang air besar, kita buang sahaja lapisan liner ini, dan Cloth Diaper yang kita guna itu akan lebih senang untuk dibasuh kemudian.
• Penggunaan Nappy Liners juga memberikan lebih keselesaan kepada bayi kerana ianya memberi rasa yang kering berpanjangan (tidak lembap), dan permukaan yang lembut (liner dari bahan fleece dan suede).
• Nappy liners boleh didapati dalam bentuk pakai buang (disposables) atau reusable. Ada juga Flushable liners yang boleh di-flush terus di dalam mangkuk tandas.

4) Wetbags

• Kita boleh menggunakan Wetbags sebagai tempat simpanan khas untuk Cloth Diapers yang telah digunakan (sebelum ianya dibasuh). Ianya boleh digantung untuk kesenangan.
• Cukup memudahkan juga untuk dibawa berjalan, kita boleh menyimpan Cloth Diapers yang kotor di dalmnya dengan selamat dan bersih.
• Ada pelbagai saiz: Kecil, besar, sederhana, dll. Terpulang kepada citarasa dan penggunaan.
• Ianya kalis air, dapat menghalang bau-bau kurang menyenangkan dari merebak, dan ada pelbagai jenis corak yang sungguh menggamit hati.

5) Diaper Pail & Liner

• Sebagai alternatif kepada Wetbags, anda boleh juga menggunakan bekas simpanan lampin yang berpenutup untuk Cloth Diaper kotor.
• Apa-apa jenis bekas plastik, tong atau baldi yang cukup besar boleh digunakan, Selain itu, ada juga Diaper Pail dan Liner yang direka khas untuk lampin atau Cloth Diapers.

6) Cloth Wipes & Solution

• Alang-alang kita berjimat dengan penggunaan Cloth Diapers, jimatkan lagi wang ringgit dengan menggunakan sistem reusable Cloth Wipes untuk mencuci dan membersih bayi semasa menukar lampin (Biasanya, kita akan beli sahaja disposable Baby Wet Wipes tu)
• Satu cara yang bijak adalah ntuk menghasilkan sendiri “baby wipe solution”. Saya akan menulis mengenainya nanti.
• Cloth Wipes boleh digunakan berulang kali sebagai baby diaper wipes, memandikan bayi dan kain lap.
• Cloth Wipes juga boleh didapati dalam beraneka warna dan corak, dan diperbuat daripada pelbagai jenis bahan berkualiti seperti ….
• Selain itu, apa-apa jenis kain lap atau tuala muka kecil juga boleh digunakan sebagai Cloth Wipes.

7) Diaper Cream

• Jika bayi ada ruam atau kegatalan di bahagian punggung atau bahagian sulit, bolehlah guna Krim Lampin untuk memulihkan keadaan.

• Pastikan kita menggunakan krim lampin yang tidak akan merosakkan kualiti Cloth Diapers.

8 ) Wee Caps

• Benda comel ini digunakan khas untuk bayi lelaki bagi mengelakkan “accident” berlaku semasa penukaran lampin!
• Boleh didapati di Tiny Tapir

9) Changing Table/Mat

• Elakkan sakit pinggang dan kelam-kabut mencari perkakas-perkakas untuk menukar lampin bayi dengan menyediakan tempat yang khusus untuk fungsi sersebut.
• Jika tidak mahu changing table, cukup sekadar menggunakan changing mat/pad kalis air sebagai alas semasa menukar lampin bayi.

Itu sahaja! Beraneka macam peralatan dan produk bukan? Penukaran lampin bayi tidak perlu menjadi sesuatu yang membosankan dan rutin, jadikan ianya sesuatu yang menyeronokkan!

So What are Diaper Covers?

• Prefolds or flat diapers (kain lampin) are NOT waterproof. “Accidents” such as spills and messes might happen unless you plan to change these diapers often, or wear them (supervised!) only at home during the day.
• Therefore to make these types of cloth diapers waterproof, Diaper Covers can be used.
• Depending on brands, a Diaper Cover can cost between RM20 to RM100+.
• Inner material is made from PUL (polyurethane-laminated cloth) which makes it waterproof, and also wool and knit (as inner/outer layer).
• If made from wool & knit, it is not only waterproof, but also more breathable. However, it can be more expensive ~RM80+ a piece.
• You seal it on with Velcro or Snaps for ease of use.
• It can be used with prefolds, flat diapers (lampin) or fitted diapers.
• Diaper covers need not be cleaned after each use, maybe a few times a week after enough reusing. Unless, it gets soiled with baby’s poo. It dries easily too.
• Things to look for: Sizing (S, M, L, one size, etc), Material type (PUL, wool, knit), Good fitting (Gussets -extra material around the legs can prevent leaks from the sides).
• Diaper covers come in many cute designs and patterns like these (to cover the boring, white prefolds and lampins!)

I also saw some very basic diaper covers in Jusco (Pureen or Pigeon brand, I don’t remember) which was pretty cheap, less than RM20! Depends on you, you can buy anything that fits your budget!

Kita masih lagi dalam topic PREFOLD DIAPER (lampin Prefold), selepas posting saya yang sebelum nya: 5 Cara Menggunakan & Melipat Prefold/Kain Lampin . Sudah kah anda mempelajari cara-cara tersebut?

Saya juga sedang mencari kedai atau blogshop yang menjual Prefold Diapers, tetapi jumlah stok yang ada amat terhad dan tidak banyak pilihan. Saya merasakan cloth diaper jenis Prefold ini mungkin tidak se-popular atau kurang dikenali sedikit berbanding jenis cloth diaper lain seperti Pocket Diapers contohnya.

Mummies, women and girls can wear cloth pads as an alternative to sanitary napkins and panty liners. The advantages of using cloth pads can be similar to using cloth diapers:

1. It’s comfortable!: The feel of cloth on the skin compared to plastic-ky disposable pads
2. It’s suitable for sensitive skin: If you are prone to infections, itchiness, rashes –it can be a solution because it has no chemicals in it!
3. Less odors: The bad smell/odors from disposable pads actually come from the reaction of chemicals with your bodily fluids.
4. Saves costs: Because it’s reusable and will last you years, you can buy a few and use it many times (no need to spend on pads/panty liners each month - can spend on baby’s Cloth Diapers instead )
5. Less environmental waste: Nothing is thrown away, which means less waste in our landfills!
6. They’re cute too!!: Too many pretty and funky patterns to choose from (can’t have that with disposable pads right ?)

I guess some will be scared of the prospect of using cloth pads because of the washing it requires. We might feel grossed out, but actually it IS stuff from our bodies anyway, what’s the big deal? Looking around at the information, it isn’t really so difficult to manage – just rinse and hand wash/throw in washing machine!

Personally for me, I haven’t tried out cloth pads meant for that time of the month (periods). However, I do use disposable panty liners on a daily basis, so I really wanted to give cloth panty liners a try before I start experimenting with cloth pads. Besides, it’s cheap enough to trial out before fully switching to cloth perhaps.
